How the soulmate initial is calculated
Your name (spaces and capitals ignored) and birthday are turned into a single number with a hash function, which lands on one of the 26 letters A–Z — the letter isn't taken from your own name. A second hash gives a score from 0 to 100. Add another person and each of you gets a letter; the combined score is the average of your two scores. Everything is calculated in your browser.
