Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How is the mood swings test scored?
A. You answer 12 questions written by Giggleus (not a validated scale) from 'Not at all' (0) to 'Very much' (4), for a total of 0 to 48. 0–11 is Emotionally Steady, 12–23 Gentle Ripples, 24–35 Clear Mood Swings and 36–48 Emotional Rollercoaster.
Q. Does a high score mean I have borderline personality disorder?
A. No. The test only reflects your recent mood swings and relationship worries; it can't detect BPD or any other condition. Only an assessment by a qualified clinician can diagnose that.
Q. What should I do if my score is high?
A. When emotions peak, hold off on decisions and messages and move your body for a bit. If your emotions are affecting your sleep, work or relationships, talk to a doctor or mental-health professional. In the US you can call or text 988, and findahelpline.com lists free helplines in other countries.
